Kalashnikov Group held the first Kalashnikov Cup match
Kalashnikov Group, which is incorporated in the State Corporation Rostec, held its own first international match of practical shooting from pistol called Kalashnikov Cup from 20 to 23 October 2016 under the Partnership Agreement with the Continental Shooting League (CSL).
Among the honoured guests, who attended the match, were: the General Secretary of the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) Alan Joly, the President of the CSL Ilya Gubin, Vice-Chairman of the Military-Industrial Commission of the Russian Federation Oleg Bochkarev, Assistant to the Russian President Igor Shchyogolev, the First Deputy Chairman of the "Jugra" bank management Yuri Melnikov, 4-time Olympic champion Alexey Nemov.
"We are very delighted that the first Kalashnikov Cup match was a success and brought together a few hundred shooters of the highest level. We made every possible effort to do it interesting as for the shooting exercises and be kept in memory if compared to other world-famous matches of practical shooting, - Alexey Krivoruchko, Director General of Kalashnikov Group said. – Kalashnikov Group will continue favouring one of the youngest and rapidly growing sports offering new opportunities for those, who devote themselves or are planning to go in for practical shooting. From 2016, Kalashnikov Group in collaboration with the Russian Practical Shooting Federation is engaged in preparation for the World Shotgun Shooting Championship, which will be held in Russia in 2017".
The Kalashnikov Cup match consisted of 20 exercises. 350 Russian and foreign athletes took part in the competition. The honorary prize of the CSL Kalashnikov Cup was given in 139 categories. The trophy is a challenge prize. Totally in 2016, 9 matches were held under the League aegis.
"Our cooperation with the Kalashnikov Group enterprise provides for maintaining and developing the CSL not only in words but in deeds, – the President of the Continental Shooting League Ilya Gubin said. – In the first CSL season, we have taken a number of major events in Russia and abroad, thanks to which the popularity of practical shooting rapidly gains momentum.
The cooperation with the Continental Shooting League is an important follow-up in a series of the Kalashnikov Group initiatives to support the shooting sports, propagation of the principles of safe gun handling and active lifestyle.
